Fort Lauderdale High School - Most Excellent Kayak Adventure On Sunday, June 22, 2003, several of the "Ladies Night Out" gals got together for a kayaking adventure. Gail Anderson coordinated this fun filled morning at West Lake Park on Sheridan Street, Hollywood, Florida. We paddled through mangroves across a lake and eventually found the intra-coastal waterway only to discover the Las Palmas Oasis Cafe was open and serving dockside. We rafted up and ordered refreshing pina coladas and frozen margaritas! The trip took approximately three hours including the refreshment stop. The park had kayak rentals for $13.00 per person. Cheryl Inserra brought her own kayak and showed us novices how it is done. She's quite the expert. She has even kayaked with the whales in Alaska on several summer vacations. |
